Mirror's Frame by Alan Cookson, Hollow Water 2015 There are reports coming in of a minor earth tremor near Brownhills today. It measured 4.2 on the Richter scale It looks like we're in for a run of warm and dry weather over the next seven days. But don't plan any picnics too far ahead as there will be a return to sunshine and showers and longer periods of rain by early next week. ...Is it the almond? The carob perhaps? Results at the end of the show. THIS is Aquatic FM and the time is11:57, just coming up on the midnight hour. But don't fall asleep yet. Stay awake with the new tune by Hollow Water. This is Mirror's Frame Be quiet .No questions. Take this. Use it to find the rainbow which stays all the time. I was driving home at midnight, the rain swirls in the headlights, A Black figure looms right in those rays, a swerve, a skid, the wheels slid away, A close thing but a miss it is, my luck was in and so was his, The screeching brakes is all it takes to miss the hooded one. My heart was thumping my head was slumping on the wheel. The figure gets up from the road, its face shrouded in a heavy cowl, No light reflects from its dark dark face, it’s all absorbed without a single trace, It holds out a framed glass mirror of wooden mass, Find the rainbows beam that always stays in one place, Only one spectrum is real, all others lie and disappear.

Gathering Sunbeams for the Future By Alan Cookson, Hollow Water 2015 We’re gathering sunbeams for the future, Energy for your computer, All of the gadgets you favour, Tablet, hoover and your shaver. We’re saving the planet for your children, Green power for your new kitchen, Appliances you may find useful, Necessary or even crucial. We’re bagging scintillations for tomorrow, Juice for your eco-friendly homes, Gizmos you like and use often, That end up in the drawer or the loft, We’re cutting the size of your bills, So long as you don’t mind the hills, Covered in countless windmill blades, For decades and decades and decades. The cost of electric is shocking, That’s why the people are flocking, To put panels on their roofs, It’s a simple obvious truth. The initial outlay’s not expensive, If we give you the incentive, Reduce your carbon footprint, Just ignore that contract misprint. The time is approaching one day, When all of this will go away, Just need some new technology, Which will do away with it all, Just waiting for clever inventions, Full of essential innovations, To make them all obsolete, And be much more neat & discrete.

The Quantum Mechanic and the Map Collector By Alan Cookson, Hollow Water 2015 There was a girl who worked with the light, There was a boy who was up for the fight, She knew the wavelengths and frequencies, He knew where fjords and peninsulas lay, She told us photons don't have any mass, He recognised features on every map, They joined together to look for the bow, We formed a team and decided to go. She was a girl with light in her head, He was unusual, a cartographer, She watched the sky to look out for the signs He kept the charts so we knew where to climb. She told us wave-packets are always fun He found the way when all said and done. They joined together to look for the bow, We formed a team and decided to go. She was a science girl who led the way, He knew some locations a distance away, She talked about optics a lot of the time, He saw which slopes had the least incline, Her technical brain meant she thought quite a bit, He was far stronger than he'd care to admit, They joined together to look for the bow, We formed a team and decided to go. The quantum mechanic and the map collector Searched in the rain with the rainbow detector The compass and chart helped them find the sector The objective the elusive banded projector The map collector and the quantum mechanic Were drenched by the weather but didn't panic Bided their time stayed cool were not manic Till they found the answer to their quest titanic To her spectrums were her day to day thing, But he was inclined to be more sporting, She worked in the lab at the laser lens bench, He toiled in building sites cutting a trench, She found it hard to have a common touch, He put up with it all and never moaned much, They joined together to look for the bow, We formed a team and decided to go.

Rainbow's End By Alan Cookson Hollow Water 2013 Patient, just be patient. We need to wait until it appears again. Ready with our spades just poised to dig down to that golden trove. Searching, I'm exploring, yeah still seeking the rainbow's end, Hunting, I'm still chasing, yeah still stalking the spectrum's bend, Help me, I'm imploring you to help me find the coloured arc my friend, That place where the beams converge is where the hole goes down to the golden hoard. CHORUS: At the rainbow's end we'll see what we want to see, At the rainbow's end at the foot of that single, lonely lonesome tree, At the rainbow's end we'll be what we want to be, At the rainbow's end we can be anything or anyone we really hope to be. Patient, just be patient. We need to wait until it appears once more. Ready with our pickaxes eager to scoop out all of the golden trove. I know that it will come back again the next time it pours. Searching, I'm persuing, yeah still questing for the rainbow's end, Tracking, I'm still rushing, yeah still trailing the prism's blend, Aid me, I'm appealing to you to help me track down the stripy bow my friend, That place where the light is focused where the shaft goes down to the glistening pile CHORUS Patient, just be patient. We need to wait until it appears anew. Ready with our shovels poised to unearth that great big aurous pile. know that it will come back again when the next cloudburst comes. Searching, I'm prospecting, yeah still combing for the rainbow's end, Prowling, I'm still racing, yeah still after the refraction's trend, Assist me, I appeal to you help me find the prisms crescent my friend, That place where the beams converge is where the hole goes down to the crock of gold. CHORUS

Trick of the Light By Alan Cookson Hollow Water 2013 The sun came out day after day so we sat and waited by the wayThe location can't be too far off the dark figure hadn't travelled enoughThen one day in a lightish shower a glint of sun pushed through with powerAnd the colours glinted in the drops of water flying above the treetops And then we saw it at the foot of a tree a beam that could not fleeIt was a trick of the light hid in plain sight an illusion so bright but a deception alright. It was a mirage ablaze all would amaze at the trickery rays of the rainbow which stays... So here it is at the foot of the tree the beam that should not beIt was a trick of the light hid in plain sight an illusion so bright but a deception alright. It was a mirage ablaze we all amaze at the trickery rays of the rainbow which stays…

Immortal Portal By Alan Cookson Hollow Water 2015 Immortal portal appears right in front of us Immortal portal it functions only once. How can this be true? We can now get though! Dimensional portal, a beam straight into another world Illusion of the light. No change of time, no means of flight, We can leave this earth behind, Out of sight and out of mind

Solar Beacon 06:10
Solar Beacon By Alan Cookson Hollow Water 2015 CHORUS: Solar Beacon it's not a rainbow,A Solar Beacon, Solar Beacon it's not a rainbow ,A Solar Beacon . Inside the solar beacon it’s not quite the same ,We’re in a different dimension all looks singed by flame, Colours are different from what we knew, And everything has an altered hue. CHORUS Inside the solar beacon like we’re in a sepia film, We’re in a new dimension earth’s colour leached from our skin. Simple torches become flares. Laser pointers cut holes like tears. CHORUS Inside the solar beacon bronze light is all we see, We’re in a new dimension no blue red yellow green Phones screen light can mesmerise Watches dull glow does hypnotize CHORUS Inside the solar beacon no primary light exists, We’re in a new dimension just brown all round persists But our lights go dim. No power goes in. No battery charge facility………. CHORUS

The Light Dimension By Alan Cookson Hollow Water 2015 If we want to get back again we need to find a new way To open the portal again. The Key Smith along the way The guardian said is the one who can make what we need To construct from a mirror and wood a new portal opening key. Then we can open the door back into our own coloured world And then we will have the means to enter whenever we please So long as we find the Key Smith every time we enter and leave He can make us the device to find the location twice. So we travelled high and low across mountains thick with snow All sepia-toned in hue to find the locations clue To where the Key Smith toiled in his valley water boiled And fire blasted into the sky where he welded bronze and iron It took us two days to find the smithy which was signed Key smith enter with care powerful forces were there To forge earthly glass with some wood from a pass We had walked through at night and the brownness they call light

Illusions and Delusions By Alan Cookson Hollow Water 2015 However you view it we were up against it, The lies and deception were not an exception Evasion and confusion. Illusions & Delusions There's no getting round it, the tricks just compound it, Falsehoods, distortions had got out of proportion, Illusions & Delusions. Evasion and confusion. Time we wised up to the deceit and the fiction, Of so many ruses but we weren't the losers. Evasion and confusion. Illusions & Delusions CLARITY CERTAINTY HONESTY SIMPLICITY REALITY Misapprehension or deliberate intention, To fool and confuse us, nonplus and bemuse us, Evasion and confusion. Illusions & Delusions To suffer in silence or offer defiance, For things we went through that were plainly not true? Illusions & Delusions Evasion and confusion. Through our adventure we'd hoped for some treasure, But the valuable lesson was insight's impression Evasion and confusion. Illusions & Delusions CLARITY CERTAINTY HONESTY SIMPLICITY REALITY We realised quickly the illusions were strictly, Designed to confuse us, frustrate and bemuse us, Evasion and confusion. Illusions & Delusions We soon got to see through the fake optical fraud, The intriguing bow that malfunctioned though, Illusions & Delusions Evasion and confusion. We faced down our challenge, we used our knowledge, To leap all the hurdles and find the light portal. Evasion and confusion. Illusions & Delusions CLARITY CERTAINTY HONESTY SIMPLICITY REALITY

We Changed. This World Didn't By Alan Cookson Hollow Water 2015 We came back to earth what did we find? Nothing had changed was it just in our minds? It was still raining but every colour was there. We were like heroes there for a few nights and days But we are different we have all changed. Now our whole purpose has become exchanged Seek out other dimensions we know are all out there Find keys in every corner of this world and theirs....

about

The Rainbow's End album has a sci-fi theme involving three acquaintances who form a team and search for a rainbow which stays all the time. They embark on a comedy adventure which leads to a strange dimension where light does different things to here on earth.
An essential part of the concept is the album packaging which utilises a 20-page CD booklet with an eight page comic book drawn by Aidan Kelly (UK).
